The Royal Thai Army has promoted Private Thanapat Huiwan to sergeant major after he stepped on a landmine at Chong Bok, causing his left foot to be amputated. Two other soldiers who suffered chest pains from the force of the blast received morale-boosting money and other financial assistance.
In the case of soldiers of the 6021st Infantry Regiment who stepped on a landmine while patrolling in the Chong Bok area, Ubon Ratchathani Province on July 16, three soldiers were injured: Private Thanapat Huiwan, Private Nattawut Srikhem, and Sergeant Patipat Srilapak.
